2008 Recipient

Megan McMillan

Megan McMillan is the third recipient of the scholarship. Born on May 5, 1986 and raised in Arlington, Texas, Megan graduated from Lamar High School in 2004 where she was a four year varsity tennis player. Her family is an important part of her life. Dad is a dentist in Arlington, and mom works in his office. Megan has one brother, Will, who is thirteen years old and is in the 8th grade. She is a member of First Baptist Church Arlington.

Megan played on the Austin College tennis team for four years. She is also a big sister through Big Brothers and Big Sisters of North Texas to a third grade girl, Zurletta for two years. After graduating in May 2008 from Austin College with a Psychology major and Art minor, Megan is working to receive her masters in teaching and graduate in May 2009. She plans on becoming certified in EC-4th grade and hopefully teaching 2nd grade. Megan has done an outstanding job in assisting Coach Hunter this year in staying in contact with the 2009 recruiting class.



2007 Recipient

Valerie Emmett

We are pleased to announce Valerie Emmett as the second recipient of the scholarship. Like Brittany, Valerie was a Psychology major at Austin College and will pursue her 5th year in the Master's of Arts in Teaching Program. Valerie was a valued member of the 'Roos tennis team for the last four years and completed her senior season as Team Captain.

In addition to tennis, Valerie was involved with the Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity serving as Secretary of the organization, served on the Peer Judicial Board, the Student Athletic Advisory Council and was Guest Speaker at the Parent and Alumni Relations Gatherings. During her time at AC Valerie took advantage of the international opportunities available to her completing a semester in New South Wales, Australia and spending her last January term in Costa Rica. Valerie will be a tremendous asset to Coach Deb Hunter assisting her in the recruitment of the 2008 high school senior class.



2006 Recipient

Andrea Bauer

We are pleased to announce that Andrea Bauer was the first recipient of the scholarship. Andrea was a teammate of Brittany's for the 2005-06 season. As a senior co-captain, Andrea led the 'Roos in scoring and rebounding this past season. For her efforts, she was named to the All-American Southwest Conference East Division 1st Team. In addition, Andrea was named as the conference player of the week for the week of Jamuary 23-29, 2006.

While finishing her master's degree this year, Andrea will serve as a graduate assistant coach for the women's basketball program. Not only will Andrea be a tremendous asset on the bench this year, she is proving to be an outstanding recruiter for future AC players. Plus, Andrea will be able to cheer on her younger sisters Raney (senior) and Jacqueline (sophmore) as they compete in their new conference, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
