The Brittany Danielle Simpson
Endowed Scholarship

Following Brittany’s tragic accident, we established a scholarship fund in lieu of flowers. We were completely overwhelmed by the generous giving of our family and friends, some that had never even met Brittany. As the funds grew, we made a decision to establish an endowment at Austin College. There were many reasons for this but ultimately we felt that this was the best way to honor Brittany by allowing others to pursue the same dream.

From the moment Brittany left from her initial visit at the school, she knew that Austin College was where she wanted to go to college and pursue the goal of becoming a basketball coach through the school’s 5-year Master of Arts in Teaching program. The endowment, as described more fully by Austin College President Oscar Page’s letter, is designed to assist students in their 5th year of study by providing a $5,000 scholarship and an opportunity to gain valuable coaching experience by serving as a graduate assistant in the women’s basketball program. More information concerning the scholarship is available by calling Jerry Holbert in the Office of Institutional Advancement at 903-813-2336.

We are thankful to the school for allowing us to provide this excellent opportunity for Brittany’s strong legacy to continue. We are deeply grateful to you for considering a gift to the endowment. Austin College has provided a way to give online, simply click on "How to Give" below and follow the instuctions and link to their online giving page.
